Blog Post: Easy Ways to “Go Green” in the Office

Easy Ways to “Go Green” in the Office I know, I know…trying to get everyone in the office involved isn’t easy, particularly if they don’t do it at home or don’t believe it is a worthy pursuit. You’ll find that if you make it easy for people, they are inclined to participate.
Bag up the garbage from your shredder and take to the recycle center Put a collection box or recycle bin in your office. Recycle paper/plastic/glass instead of throwing it away. Think before you print. Do you really need to print out that email? Use environmentally-friendly cleaners in the office. Bring your own coffee cup or reusable water bottle to use at work. This is not only good for the environment; it also saves your company money on disposable cups! Speaking of coffee, why not switch to organic, fair-trade, shade grown coffee? Cut down on waste by purchasing often-used items in bulk. Set the office thermostat at a reasonable, comfortable level then LEAVE IT ALONE! Unplug items such as coffee machines and copiers or set them up on a power strip and turn the strip off at night if not in use. Turn off your computer and monitor at the end of each day. Encourage your co-workers to do the same. It’s one more simple way to not only cut down on energy usage; it will save your company more money than you think! Most importantly, lead by example!
