Job: Community Relations Specialist - Intern

The role of the Community Relations Specialist Intern is to serve as the liaison to the community related to the promotion of Foundation activities including the Second Image Thrift Store, Pathways Tour and Speaker’s Bureau.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with the Executive Director to cultivate community partnerships.

Assists in developing a promotional plan for the thrift store and designated special events.

Continually cultivates new relationships through invitation to the Pathways Tour program. Works with Board of Directors and Board of Trustees to get guests names to invite to the tour. Follows up and re-invites guests who cancel the tour due to schedule conflicts. Reports all follow up contact to the Executive Director to assist in developing further cultivation strategy.

Develops presentations with appropriate support materials for target markets.

Distributes promotional materials and targets mailings to designated opinion leaders and constituencies of the agency.

Assist with special events and volunteer coordination.

Seeking a Bachelors degree, preferably in Public Relations, Marketing or Communications.

Interested in resource development, coordinating volunteers and other special events.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Must demonstrate awareness and acceptance of cultural differences of clients, staff and community contacts
