Cardiac Sonographer II, Pediatric Heart Station, JDC
Under general supervision and following established procedures, methods and protocols, performs clinical echocardiographic studies for congenital heart disease on newborns through adults and fetal echocardiograms in non-invasive lab, on inpatient units and at other institutions. Assist in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms and intra-cardiac echocardiograms in the Cardiac OR and Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Participate in clinical echocardiographic research. Performs as a senior cardiac Sonographer within the Pediatric Heart Station based on experience, skills and knowledge including teaching, assisting with complex cardiovascular malformations and technically difficult cases. Provides patient care with attention to cultural diversity and special needs, and meets standards of quality as measured by the performance improvement process.

High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized course work (or equivalent) in 2-year college program with emphasis on imaging modalities or other associated medical program. ARDMS registration required in Pediatric Echocardiography (PE). Adult Echocardiography (AE) desirable. Fetal echocardiography (FE) eligibility preferred.

Position requires proficiency in cardiac ultrasound theory and techniques or experience in the field of cardiology with a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology with specific experience in pediatric cardiac ultrasound.

Must be proficient in the use of M-mode, 2D, pulsed, continuous wave and color flow Doppler techniques to train others.
