Job Summary:The Southwest Florida Water Management District is looking for a communications coordinator with a passion for writing and editing. Candidates must also be able to communicate effectively and work well with others while meeting multiple deadlines. This position requires strong writing skills and ability to translate technical environmental information into meaningful information for the media and the general public. The communications coordinator writes a wide range of District news releases, facts sheets, feature articles, guest columns, and related materials, and serves as editor of the District’s WaterMatters Magazine. The position is also responsible for tracking media coverage, developing story ideas and responding to some media requests for information in the absence of the media relations manager.

Education and Experience:The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Mass Communications, Education, Speech Communications, Public Relations or related field and at least one to two years’ experience in journalism, public relations or public communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Accreditation in Public Relations by PRSA or FPRA is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.
