Job: Youth Development Counselor PT & FT

The Urban League of Broward County founded in 1975 as the 104th affiliate of the National Urban League, the Urban League of Broward County is a community based organization dedicated to assisting African Americans in the achievement of social and economic equality.

The fundamental objective of the Urban League of Broward County is to enable those who are moving toward the mainstream to achieve economic self-reliance and to enjoy their rights as equal citizens under the law.

A Youth Development Counselor initiates and coordinates a wide range of activities to enhance program goals and objectives. Conducts assessment, advocacy, counseling, case management and interagency collaboration to ensure effective and efficient delivery of service to clients.


Responsibilities:

Organizes and implements creative, innovative programming on a daily basis that result in positive achievements for participant.

Actively recruits and retains participants and families for the program.

Provides referral services for participants and families of the program.

Meets all performance standards and requirements established by the program contract/grant and/or ULBC.

Maintains accurate and complete records for program participants related to services and activities.

Submits timely and accurate reports and assignments related to the program and the Program Department.

Serves as liaison and contact person with other agencies to ensure coordinated and comprehensive delivery of services to participants.

Advises immediate supervisor of trends and issues within area of responsibility and recommend activities to address them.

Develops and disseminates information to groups and individuals to promote increased awareness of the Urban League and its programs.

Actively participates in ULBC special event committees and projects.

Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Must be able to operate a personal computer using Microsoft Office or similar application.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in counseling, criminal justice, social work, education or related human service area. An Associate’s Degree may substitute with at least two years of related experience. Previous experience working with youth and their families in community and school based settings a plus.
