The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. 1. Supervises and helps the Child Advocate’s (CA’s) in dealing with challenges and barriers using their knowledge of ChildNet’s System of Care, Policies and Procedures and state and federal mandates for the Child Protection System. 2. Provides advanced knowledge of court procedures and the laws that govern child welfare, the handling of sensitive or confidential information, and resources in the community. 3. Receives, reviews and assigns cases to CA’s within 24 hours after receipt from the Site Director. 4. Oversees and conducts monthly reviews with the CA for each case in their unit until case closure. This includes providing guidance on documentation, referrals, diligent searches, etc. 5. Assist the CA with required staffings: one-month, five-month, ten-month; validates that CA’s have clearly documented their case plans with the staffings recommendations, and they have included the person responsible for follow-up in both the case file and in the systems software; and that the staffings meet the needs of the child(ren) and family. 6. Confirms the CA prepares the corresponding JSRSS report’s within 10 days prior to the Judicial Reviews Hearing that takes place at six-months. 7. Prepares the CA for court hearings and attends the hearings as necessary. Verifies that CA’s document the required information in the automated software systems and maintain the documentation in files in accordance with state records management requirements. 8. Acts as a liaison with DCF, BSO, Community Based Providers, Family Court System, School Board of Education, Guardian Ad-Litem Program, Child Protection Team, Dependency Court System and the Delinquency Court System. 9. Monitors the quality and productivity of the worked preformed by unit personnel. Prepares reports for management as needed. 10. Provides recommendation to Site Director and Director of Human Resources for the hire, termination, transfer and promotion of unit employees. 11. Completes performance appraisals for Child Advocates. Identifies and counsels employees that do not perform their duties or conduct themselves in accordance with ChildNet’s policies using the corrective action process. Skills / Requirements
Requires a master’s degree in social work or a related area of study from an accredited college or university and at least five years of experience in human services or child welfare programs as a supervisor or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited college or university or related area of study and four years of experience in human services or child welfare programs. A doctorate in social work or a related area of study may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Ability to implement policies and procedures. Ability to supervise and manage seven or more employees in a supportive manner and spend time with them in the field.
