Broward House is Broward County‚s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS community service organization with over 13 locations. The agency currently serves over 6,000 women, children, men and families throughout South Florida with a full array of quality services to those living with and at risk for HIV and other health issues. Programs include medical, case management, substance abuse treatment, independent and assisted living facilities, intervention, and mental health services.
We have an excellent opportunity available for a part time Social Marketing Media Specialist. This is a part time (approx. 20 hours/week) grant funded position that is responsible for using Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Chat Rooms, etc.) to market the availability of a Teen Suicide Intervention Program and to encourage potential respondents in a supportive, caring way, providing referrals to emergency or continuing services.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Aggressive and continuing presence in Social Media destinations where teens, primarily lesbian/gay/bi-sexual/transgendered/questioning/unsure teens (LGBTQU) are likely to be found
Engage individuals in Chat Rooms or through Social Media outlets using active, positive, and problem solving language
Encourage program participants to seek whatever level of services is appropriate to their particular situation through a variety of linkages and referrals such as 911, mental health services, and other community resources
Keeps accurate, complete, and timely documentation of contacts, demographics, and outcome of the encounter with program participants.
Skills / Requirements
High School diploma or GED required
Social Media and strong PC/MAC skills required
Familiarity with GLBTQU issues required
Excellent verbal communication skills
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS preferred as well as Bi-lingual English/Spanish
