Job Description
The Industrial Engineer will support 2 highly automated pharmacy/OTC distribution centers - This individual will play a key role in driving improved productivity and cost effectiveness through;
* Ensuring the performance management system / labor standards are accurate and configured correctly to provide fair and accurate performance reporting.
* Utilizing knowledge of various manual and automation processing rates to support staffing, balancing, costing, scheduling and other business analytics.
* Leading/supporting the continuous improvement programs for both facilities (with a focus on improving cost effectiveness; performance, utilization of systems, equipment and people, while maintaining a safe, quality and customer focused work environment).
* Provide various information/data to aid DC management teams in effectiveness, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, etc.
* Managing a variety of projects including, but not limited to; Identifying and justifying new technology/automation solutions, standardization of best practices across facilities, costing, root cause analysis, design, process improvement, capacity improvement, material handling system and technology changes.
* Occasionally, supporting other distribution center and supply chain projects as required.

Successful candidates for this position will;
* Have successful experience in automated distribution center environments, or equivalent.
* Have knowledge of labor standards and performance management systems.
* Have demonstrated a capability to successfully manage and complete projects with minimal oversight.
* Have experience leading and supporting project teams.
* Have proven experience in continuous improvement and cost reduction methodologies such as Lean Six-Sigma.

The position reports to the Sr. Advisor / Industrial Engineering and will closely coordinate work with the regional and local DC Directors.

Required Qualifications
3+ Years of Industrial Engineering experience in an Automated Distribution Center.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Ensure the performance management system / labor standards are accurate and configured correctly to provide fair and accurate performance reporting. Will maintain standards documentation, perform all necessary time study audits, adjust standards promptly as required to reflect changes in methods, product mix, and service requirements in order to maintain applicability.
2. Utilize knowledge of various manual and automation processing rates to support staffing, balancing, costing, scheduling and other business analytics.
3. Lead/support the continuous improvement programs for both facilities by working with the DC leadership teams to identify, quantify, prioritize improvement opportunities, perform analysis, assign responsibilities, maintain a continuous improvement plan, and report progress against plan/financial targets, utilize Lean 6-Sigma approach where applicable to insure optimal results (with a focus on improving cost effectiveness; performance, utilization of systems, equipment and people, while maintaining a safe, quality and customer focused work environment).
4. Provide various information/data to aid DC management teams in effectiveness, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, etc.
5. Manage a variety of projects including, but not limited to; identifying and justifying new technology/automation solutions, standardization of best practices across facilities, costing and root cause analysis, design, capacity improvement, material handling system and technology changes.
6. Assist in improving work methods by observing and analyzing data in order to ascertain the most efficient way to perform all warehouse tasks. (Simplifying, reducing steps, travel, non-value added time, and waste).
7. Optimize material flow, storage utilization and product slotting.
8. Provide operations team with necessary support and guidance for improving utilization of our resources (Direct and Indirect Labor, equipment, material, space, etc.)
9. Provide technical support for material handling system improvement (configuration, improved capacity, efficiency)

4. Must possess strong leadership skills.
5. Must have clear understanding of economic evaluation / capital expenditure justification (Engineering Economics).
6. Must possess a strong working knowledge of standards development, labor and performance management systems and standard development methods.
7. Must demonstrate ability to carry out assignments of a broad nature while exercising considerable judgment and originality, and manage multiple and often complex tasks with confidence.
8. Must demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
9. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Cognos and ACAD.
10. Design / process improvement experience with AS/RS systems, automatic palletizers, automated sortations systems preferred. These 2 site utilize Witron automation.
11. History of successful project management preferred.
12. Experience with warehouse management systems (such as Infor or equivalent) preferred.
13. PLC programming a plus.
14. ISO 9001/2000, Lean/Six-Sigma, Kaisen a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Sitting in front of a terminal / standing for extended periods.
2. Work environment: Office environment, distribution center environment with multi-level modules, stairs, and heights.
3. Up to 30% travel may be required at times.

Education
BSIE or equivalent engineering degree. Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
