Attorney, Chartwell Law (Deerfield Beach, FL) Represent clients in commercial litigation & construction litigation disputes & other legal proceedings & manage or advise clients on legal issues in the areas of personal injuries, business law, construction defense, & insurance defense. New hire will attend court hearings, take & defend depositions, attend mediations & arbitrations, draft legal docs & legal correspondence, assist in trial prep'n, attend site inspections throughout Florida, research Florida & Federal laws & statutes. Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowl of legal precedents. Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of defending lawsuits, or legal rights & obligations. Interpret laws, rulings & regs for clients. Present evidence to defend clients in commercial litigation disputes. Represent clients in court or before govmt agencies. Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regs, & ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases. Contribute to negotiation of settlements of civil disputes. Mandatory 2,100-2,200 annual billable hrs obligation & must be available to work evenings & wknds as needed. 100% office attendance reqd for first 6 mos, then a hybrid/remote model can be discussed as a potential option. Reqmts: Juris Doctor deg w/ honors (Cum Laude/Magna Cum Laude/Sigma Cum Laude). Must be a Member of the Florida Bar in good standing. Min 1 yr exp as a F/T Law Clerk or Paralegal in insurance defense & construction defect depts of a large nationwide law firm. Exp must incl exposure to defending major insurers & corporations in premises liability, personal injury, construction cases & complex commercial litigation in both Florida & Federal Courts, incl drafting complaints, affidavits, motions, interrogatories & other pleadings connected w/ trial prep'n & discovery for Sr. attys. Applicants must be familiar w/ billing best practices, handle full caseload, & be capable of multi-tasking & assist partners & Sr. associates on their cases. Must have excellent writing skills. Travel reqd to courthouses, depositions & visiting clients w/in the State of Florida several times a month. Employees must attend n/working events.
