Job Description

We have a wonderful opportunity to join our City Furniture’s IT Department as a RPG Soft Developer. The RPG Software Developer’s primary function is to research, design, develop and test operating systems-level software for retail and general computing applications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Modifying existing software to correct errors & bugs.

  • Create new programs to meet the requirements if a new business rule is needed by users.

  • Converts existing flat files to normalize database files and convert existing RPG programs to RPGLE and RPGFREE programs.

  • Analyze requirements and information to determine, recommend and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.

  • Write and maintain system documentation to describe custom configuration of applications and operating procedures.

  • Provide on-the-job training to end users for new enhancements implemented.

  • Provides assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of AS400 applications.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field

Work Experience - 5 or more years of IT experience

Computer Knowledge and Skills - Below is the list of the computer programs and software applications that are recommended for this position:

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio)
  • I5/OS (Operating System/400)
  • PDM (Programming Development Manager)
  • DBU (Data Base Utility)
  • SQL working knowledge
  • DB2 Database Experience
  • RPG & ILE knowledge
  • ALDON (Lifecycle Manager for System i)               
  • Spoolflex
  • IBM Websphere Development Tool
  • Linoma’s RPG Toolbox
