Principal Digital Marketing Strategist

Job Summary

The Principal Digital Marketing Strategist is a senior position which is responsible for development and execution of effective digital marketing campaigns.  This position requires someone who is proficient in SEO and has a general understanding of social, public relations and paid marketing. The Principal Digital Marketing Strategist will use data to provide strategic insights and ideas to positively impact business KPIs. This position is an individual contributor role that will work closely with multiple departments. This position reports to a marketing lead in charge of one or more projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Overall Business Impact: Productivity & Responsibilities
    • Spearheading digital marketing strategies for the following areas (listed in order of priority):
      • SEO 
      • Link Building
      • Social Media 
      • Public Relations (PR)
      • Paid-per-Click (PPC)
      • Email
    • Creating strategies that are KPI driven (traffic, leads, conversion rate, etc) and provide ROI to the project and business
    • Creating strategies to keep websites ahead of algorithmic ‘penalties’ 
    • Executing developed strategies with the help of the marketing and cross functional teams
    • Identifying new opportunities for digital innovation, enforcing processes, providing quality assurance and implementing best practices across all engagements
    • Measuring and reporting impact of implemented strategies on entire marketing funnel 
    • Analyzing and communicating insights based on campaign reports
    • Conducting competitive analysis to determine areas of improvements, new initiatives to start, and potential threats from competitor changes.
    • Consistently and aggressively monitor industry trends related to search and recommend tactical changes and updates based on changes with Google, Bing. etc.
  • Quality Impact
    • Continually auditing and QCing the site to spot issues or areas of improvement on: navigation, crawlability, indexation, content, UI/UX, user intent is met and SEO optimization
    • Ensuring all web pages are of high quality
    • Ensuring consistency of design, development and content of marketing strategies.
  • Team Impact
    • Communicating to cross functional team (content, development, project management) purpose and requirements of recommended strategies. 
    • Working with content and development teams to implement updates and changes to tactics and strategies.
    • Collaborating with and mentoring marketing team members with a focus on strategic insights, digital innovation, analytics and reporting
  • Key Relationships
    • The Principal Digital Marketing Strategist reports to the Marketing Lead of one or more projects within Launch That. This position also interacts frequently with other executives at the company to explore new opportunities available to Launch That. The team that works with this position may include directors of marketing, creative directors, and directors of technology/application roles. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5-7 years of relevant lead generation digital marketing experience
  • Proven success building campaigns/strategies that improve business KPIs (traffic, leads, etc),
  • Passion for digital marketing
  • Expert understanding of the following: SEO, A/B testing, conversion optimization, UX.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines
  • Experience working with technical SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Searchmetrics, Google Webmaster Tools and SEMrush
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce including creating custom reports and dashboards.
  • Proficient in Google Analytics.
  • Ability to self-manage, drive initiatives and execute tasks to completion.
  • Willingness to embrace change.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain recommendations or meaningful information in a clear and understanding way.
  • Bonus Abilities:
    • Understanding of html, css, javascript, php
