Licensed Counselor Mental Health Outpatient Sarasota County
Position Summary: Provide individual, couples, family and group therapy to adults and children in an outpatient setting in Sarasota County. Experience in working with mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, behavioral issues, and child dependency cases. Linkage to appropriate supportive services such as psychiatric services, group therapy and/or higher levels of care when indicated. Perform assessments for possible Baker Acts, when needed.
Two (2) years' professional experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting. Licensed therapist (LMHC/LCSW/LMFT) per Florida Department of Professional Regulation as per chapter 490 or 491 F.S.
Preferred Qualification: Crisis Intervention experience preferred.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Highly skilled in mental health and co-occurring therapeutic interventions. Bi-lingual a plus.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Develop therapeutic rapport with clients - Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationships.
Diagnostic Assessment - Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment.
Concurrent Documentation - Completes documentation within 24 hours.
Provide individual, family and group therapy to individuals for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.
Screenings - Complete screenings for depression, suicide, drug use, home assessment, etc.
Treatment Planning - Developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual using individual strengths.
Therapeutic Interventions - Use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.
Referrals - Complete, document and follow up on referrals, including collateral contacts.
Discharge/close referrals - Discharge clients who successfully complete therapy services and those who fail to follow through.
Other Related Duties - Peer Reviews, consultation, attend staffings, work with community partners, state reporting, follow contract policies and processes, state reporting, etc.
Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel: This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday - 8:30-5:00.
