Responsibilities

The Creative technologist will report directly to the Director of Digital Design & User Experience and is responsible for hand coding HTML, CSS and JavaScript for multiple web properties.  This role bridges the gap between technology and design by taking UI prototypes and/or design comps and coding them in the browser using front end technologies to create interactive experiences. This position will be hands on in coding user interfaces, web sites, landing pages and internal web applications across desktop and mobile platforms for properties such as GolfNow, Golf Channel, Golf Advisor, Military Tee Times, TeeTimes.com, Last Minute Golfer, WorldGolf travel properties and more.

Job Duties

  • A passionate advocate of the web, W3C standards, semantic HTML and clean source code.
  • Work closely with Product team to execute sprint tasks as well as other project requests.
     
  • Communicate value of new and emerging web technologies, frameworks and libraries to peers and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable teaching concepts and presenting code to peers.
  • Develop web and application templates with HTML, CSS and JavaScript to accommodate provided media and content in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Build relationships with designers, developers and product team professionals to understand how business values direct product development.
  • Implement “responsive/adaptive” designs to ensure maximum usability and fast load time across all browsers, platforms and devices.
  • Research contemporary technology that will increase user interaction, streamline production and increase revenue.
  • Optimize the code to meet corporate marketing and brand positioning objectives.
  • Use JIRA daily to update project tickets with progress completing tasks.

    Qualifications/Requirements
    Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in degree program.
  • At least 5 years’ experience hand coding web pages.
  • Excellent ability to communicate rationale behind code choices in both written and verbal formats.
  • Expert in web development languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with tools like: Sublime Text, Coda, Brackets, MAMP, CodeKit, Transmit, SourceTree (or Git Tower) and terminal.
  • Experience with Bootstrap, Zurb Foundation, WordPress and Drupal.
  • Experience collaborating with teams across different lines of business.
  • Strong familiarity with back-end development processes and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of design principles and how they affect the user experience.
  • Experience using in-browser development tools.
  • Comfortable in Adobe Creative Cloud application suite and Sketch.
  • Ability to juggle multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Experience on both Macintosh and Windows platform a plus.
  • Knowledge of golf a plus.
