Reviews donor adverse events for appropriate documentation, follow-up and metrics. Provides counseling to donors or patients regarding test results and/or assists Donor Services department with donor eligibility issues.

- Reviews adverse donor events for appropriate documentation, follow-up and metrics
- Provides guidance to employees in Donor Services, Biovigilence, and Quality Assurance regarding donor issues related to organizational risk
- Responds to inquiries and provides counseling to donors who have received a letter regarding positive test results, including but not limited to HIV
- Advises staff regarding medical evaluations and orders blood cultures on components and donors with positive test results
- Follows up with donors regarding post-donation incidents and reactions and arranges physician referral for evaluation and treatment as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field from an accredited college or university. Two (2) or more years experience in a blood banking environment or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:
Valid and current Florida RN, LPN or other healthcare license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations as they relate to quality assurance and regulatory affairs
- Ability to organize work for timely completion
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office applications
- Skill in operating office equipment.

Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds).
