Cost Engineer - Tampa, Florida

The Cost Engineer is responsible for controlling and monitoring project total expenditures, including verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded. He/she also assists the Project Manager, Project Engineers and Project Superintendent with overall construction management.
Responsible for cost control of assigned project
Reviews with Superintendents the work executed and invoices submitted by subcontractors in order to verify what is to be submitted for payment application
Reviews the T&M work executed by subcontractors with the Superintendents, to verify what is to be submitted for payment application
Prepares the Subcontractor’s Change Orders
Tracks quantities executed and quantities to be executed in all project activities
Helps prepare information for monthly job forecasting
Help maintain the cost monitoring system (eCMS).
Open cost codes and monitor that the costs are tracked properly.
Review quotations utilizing supplier information, cost standards, technical information from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design.
Ensure that project charges are correctly represented for accounting’s closing process.
Evaluates that project charges are correctly represented for accounting department monthly closing process
Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
At least three (3) years of experience within a construction firm, Construction experience in heavy civil projects and some field experience preferred.
Strong command of Microsoft office suite; knowledge in eCMS or similar system and knowledge in HCSS and AutoCAD preferred.
Organizational ability - able to plan, prioritize, schedule, organize, and prioritize activities.
Willingness to learn - ability to receive instruction and apply knowledge to complete tasks with minimal supervision, seeks feedback and opportunities to improve
