Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for maintaining and ensuring patients' medical files are current, complete and properly arranged for easy retrieval within the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Medical Health Department. The individual organizes notes, x-rays, test results, etc. to scan electronically into Electronic Health Records (EHR). Retrieves/updates existing electronic medical records by obtaining current demographic data from each patient during every visit. Prints out updated patient's face sheet if any demographic changes, or if patient has not been to clinic within the last month. The incumbent distributes patient referrals forms when complete. Completes requests for replacing or obtaining additional health plan cards, obtains consent to copy medical record. The individual maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential. The incumbent serves as a backup to the Medical Receptionist if required. High school diploma or equivalent GED is required. Prior experience working in a medical work environment is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is required. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Nextgen software. The incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
