The incumbent in this position is responsible for assuring compliance with all applicable Fire Prevention and Life Safety Codes. This includes Life Safety Inspections, Plan Reviews, Fire Investigations, and Public Education programs. The incumbent will educate the Seminole Tribe Community Members and employees in the detection and elimination of fire hazards. The Inspector will investigate complaints regarding hazards/violations and conducts fire drills in schools within the Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations. Associate Degree is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred. State of Florida Fire Inspector I certification is required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing inspections and code enforcement work is preferred. Ability to obtain the State of Florida Fire and Life Safety Educator or Fire Instructor I certification is required within the first year of employment. Possession of a valid Florida Class "E" Driver's License is required. Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certificate is required within three months of employment. The Inspector must be able to travel to all reservations and to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
