Job Description

  Multiple Neonatal Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Openings Wolfson's Children Hospital

Scope
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant PA licensed in the State of Florida to join a team of 2 pediatric cardiac surgeons, 8 pediatric intensivists and 5 CVICU physician extenders to provide medical/surgical services to patients in a 12-bed CVICU.

Essential Functions
1. Assist with medical management of patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) under the guidance of the ICU attending physician, cardiac surgeons and cardiologists.
2. Assess patient health status including history taking and physical examination, presenting patient status and care plan in multidisciplinary rounds.
3. Determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests/procedures in discussion with cardiac surgery, CVICU, cardiology and other consulting team.
4. Writing H/P, daily progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries, writing prescriptions and collaboration in developing and maintaining guidelines.
5. Assist with other activities as assigned by the Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Critical Care Medicine or designee.

Temperament 
Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations and to work well with people.
Must have the drive to learn basic cardiac physiology and postoperative management of children with heart disease using available resources.
Required to make independent judgments without supervision at times.
Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

Physician Assistant

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Skills 

Good organizational and communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work with others as a team.
Able to work within the framework of the division to achieve divisional and organizational goals and objectives.

Experience 
Minimum of two years experience in Newborn Critical Care Level III preferred.

Education & Certifications
Masters degree in nursing or graduate of a JCAHO approved nurse practitioner program.
Licensed to practice in the state of Florida; BCLS certified.
Must meet the hospital credentialing requirements.

Physician Assistant

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Skills
 
Good organizational and communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work with others as a team.
Able to work within the framework of the division to achieve divisional and organizational goals and objectives.

Experience 
Minimum of two years experience in Newborn Critical Care Level III preferred.

Education and Certifications 
National Certification by the NCCPA
Licensed to practice in the state of Florida
Prescribing license in the state of Florida
BCLS and ACLS certified required.
Must meet the hospital credentialing requirements.
